I am a mom of 2 beautiful children with an idea that came to life. We are a typical family with
hopes, dreams and desires probably not too different from you and your family. But where
we differ where we ALL differ - is our memories. Ours are unique to us yours are
unique to you. That’s exactly why we need a place like Memories For My Child.com.
Have you ever lost someone you loved and wished you had a little something more to remember them
by? Maybe you’d love to hear their voice just one more time or long for some piece of advice
from them. Or do you have children of your own that you love so much that your heart hurts when
you think about them? You have so much to tell them but you don’t know where to start? You
want to show that love and express those feelings but how?
Well that is exactly how I feel and why I have created Memories For My Child.com. Both of the
above scenarios apply to me. I actually thought of the idea for this site as I was running errands
for work. I was in my car thinking about my oldest daughter. I was thinking about how much I love
her but also about how I am often too critical of her. She reminds me of myself and in a way, I
guess I want her to be the “new and improved” version of me. So I tend to have high
expectations of her. So as I was driving, I thought that I needed to make sure that I tell her
these things and tell her how much I love her. I thought about the journal I started for
her when she was a baby and how I hadn’t opened it in 10 years and don’t even know
where it is! Then I thought wouldn’t it be great if I could just hop onto a website
and quickly save these thoughts and memories there! That is how Memories For My Child.com came to be!
When I started working on developing this site - the “missing someone you’ve lost
piece” began again for me. I lost my dad to cancer in 1997. I’ll never forget who he
was and what he stood for but the older I get the fuzzier my memories become. While I was
working on the memory writing prompts for the site tears came to my eyes as I thought of all
of the things I wish I knew about my dad that I either don’t know or can’t remember.
How I would love to remember some more of his advice or thoughts for me. And wouldn’t it
have been wonderful to be able to pass that on to my children who never really got the privilege
of knowing and loving him.
Memories For My Child.com is really a work of my heart not only for my own family but for yours
as well. My hope and desire is that this site will help us all leave a little bit of ourselves
to the ones we love. I truly believe that giving of ourselves is the best gift we can possibly
give and the only gift that is unique to each one of us.
So it is with much humbleness and love that I dedicate this site to my wonderful parents, my
precious children and loving husband but most of all to God who gives me all I need.
Blessings to you,
Laurie Fosen
